12×16 PROLIFIC EASEL $350.00

CLICK HERE TO SEE WHO ELSE USES THE PROLIFIC EASELS!!This is the “PROLIFIC EASEL”. It is well designed, efficient, and lightweight (7.5lb) for those high-adventure hike-ins (I will sometimes hike 10 miles in to places with this thing). It is also very effective for use as a traveling companion for pulling off the side of the road and painting as well. All you need is a heavy duty tripod, attach this thing to it and you are set!! You can paint any size from 1″x1″ to up to 24″ vertical. There is no other easel on the market that can do this. It is super stable in the wind as is, but can be weighted down. It has a detachable Wet Panel Carrier too which can carry SIX 1/8″ 12X16″ panels or any size smaller. The workstation has a plexi-glass palette and is a giant 11.5 X 15.5 area, plus the double fold out wings that make for an additional 12×16″ area for brushes, turp jar, paint etc.Below are some of the features of the easel! |

 |
| This is how you’ll receive and break down the prolific easel. The best thing about it is that there is nothing that sticks out when it’s all packed up to hang up on things or straps in your pack. It’s nice and slick and very travel-able!! |
| Use the poker tool that you get with the Paper Towel Lanyard to open the Workstation and the Wet Panel Carrier. Don’t worry if you misplace this, any slender enough object will work in a pickle. |
| The upright panel holder attaches to the tripod head like this. You can have your painting a bit further from you as in the image on the right or closer as in the image on the left. You can paint up to 24″ vertical with this system!! For this reason, you’re going to want a heavy duty tripod with a metal tripod head for the rigidity necessary. |
| The Panel Holders have a inside taper that holds a panel without getting in the way of a brushstroke like so many other easels. You pinch the panel in the holders tightly enough that the wind won’t blow it out and you can actually leave the painting in the holders while you hike back to the car if you prefer. |
 |
| Here are pictures of how the Wet Panel Carrier opens and works. In the center, there is a divider that allows you to put in any size panel smaller than 12×16, for 12x16s you’d simply remove the divider. Also notice how the slots themselves are tapered so that the slot doesn’t “scrape” off a 1/4 inch of your freshly painted money maker!! |
| This is the configuration with the paper towels trash bag and Turp Jar attached. In this photo, the Wet Panel Carrier is detached. This is the way I prefer to paint, I will keep the Wet Panel Carrier in my backpack. Also notice that there is an actual glass palette so clean-up is nice and easy!! |

The hooks screw in to the Workstation and hold it to the tripod. There are two sets of nutserts in what is the back of the Workstation. One of the sets is wider and will hook the Workstation lower on the tripod for sitting while painting if you prefer. The others are narrower for standing while painting. Notice in the picture on the left, there is a male to female configuration to the hooks so that when attached, they will not turn on you. The hooks take about 30 seconds to attach.
Use the acorn nut (which is glued to the screw) to screw in to the nutsert about 5 threads, then tighten up the whole system with the wingnut. Once the wingnut is tightened there is no play in the system which gives the hook great strength.
There are two parts to the hook themselves. If you detach the Wet Panel Carrier from the Workstation, only the hook part will be necessary for the appropriate angle on the tripod. When the Wet Panel Carrier is attached to the Workstation, the hook and “shim” (the little block) is necessary for the correct angle. If you have an easel that is frustrating you, treat yourself the Prolific and start getting some paintings done!! This thing is tried and true and I’m not the first to come up with the hook on the tripod design (I think James Coulterwas; click the link to see his work), but I certainly have perfected it. I’ve tested it thoroughly in what most would consider to be an extremely rigorous plein air circuit (for years I did a dozen open festivals and invitationals or more, nowadays I stick with about 5 really good invitationals). Not to mention my own excursions outside of the events. Long Story Short, I love plein airing more than any other type of painting, and this thing ROCKS!!You owe it to yourself. Think of it as if you were going to get in to any other individual sport. You’d drop a thousand bucks easily to get in to mountain biking, kayaking, skiing or snowboarding, perhaps a lot more. That is all. |
Here is a link to a printable pdf file that you’ll receive if you order one. It has some more information on the easel too.
