I hope this newsletter finds you well. It’s been a weird weather Colorado Spring, big surprise there. Luckily, I was able to escape a couple of times. First to Moab, UT for just a couple of days. Below is a painting called “Springtime in Devil’s Garden.” I was captivated by the variety of greens against the red rock, and the peppering of junipers through the scene. I was only able to get a few paintings done on this short trip. My frame guy, Frank wanted to hike in to the Needles area of Canyonlands National Park, so we spent one of the days hiking in to Devil’s Kitchen. It was PHENOMENAL!
Then, for a couple of weeks at the beginning of May I travelled to Augusta, Missouri to participate in the Augusta Plein Air Event. Beautiful rolling wine country about 40 miles West of St. Louis, Augusta lies on a high bluff overlooking the Missouri River bottoms. There were over a hundred artists registered and as usual the town welcomed everyone with some good ole Missouri hospitaliy! We were wined, dined, and there were events and subcontests every day of the week. The above painting, Missouri Greens, won the “Paint the Watering Holes of the Katy Trail” painting day. Above are some select paintings from the trip. It rained quite a few of the days so I was forced under the hatchback of the my Exterra, or under other cover. The boots I painted from the inside of a garage!
On Wednesday, I’m heading out to Gloucester, Massachussets to paint New England and stock up the gallery out there. If you live in the area, please call me and come by the new gallery space 719-221-8964. It’s called Gloucester Fine Art and is located at 46 Main Street, Gloucester, MA 01930. For those that don’t know the area, Gloucester is a four century old port town right on Cape Ann about 45 miles north of Boston.
  
There are literally layers of civilization built on top of each other and some of the most diverse coastline. Everything from giant granite boulders toppling over into the ocean to estuaries meandering through marshlands, vast sandy beaches, and of course old world working fishing boats and docks. Look forward to seeing some of these areas featured in the next newsletter.
